A Patient’s Reflection on her Medical Abortion (pills used: Mifepristone and Misoprostol / Cytotec) in the Philippines (entry #53)

December 15, 2017
Chet, 19, student
Pasig City, Philippines

LMP sept 27 to oct 2
expected menstration oct 4
I tried taking vitamin C every hour but it only lasted for a day since
I’m still studying and I can’t do that every hour I stopped it, and as
I read someone’s email I read about the project 486 who’s helping us
ladies to deal with our problem because of some personal reasons.
We’ve decided to do this because my boyfriend and I are still studying
and we can’t afford to have a baby at this age and time.
Dec 11 – Had a phone consultation with Sir John (he sounds
professional, educated, and knows what is he talking about)
Although we can’t afford the price of the medicines, we did try our
best for us to have it since my boyfriend and I were dead serious
about doing this procedure.
Dec 12 – ordered medicines
Dec 13
DAY 1 – started the procedure
6 am – 6 pm low folate diet.
I only ate fries, apple and skyflakes with lots of water since water
lang yung pwede itake ng madami
5:00 PM – received the medicines
6 PM to 11:59 – Fasting. No foods/water and better to stay in bed

DAY 2 (Low-folate diet day)
12:01am – 6am – fasting
6am to11:59pm-low folate diet
Sobrang important nung diet kaya kailangan sundin tapos I can’t even
go to school kasi mapapagod and it won’t help daw so I stayed in bed
the whole day

DAY 3 (miso day)
12am – 4pm – fasting
5:30 am- defecate and urinate
6:00am- vaginal miso, 2 tabs
Around 8 am sobrang sakit na ng puson ko so I decided to ake pain
reliever (ibuprofen)
Around 9 am I felt defacating after ko mag defacate lumabas na yung
fetus. Yes fetus na sya kasi 9th week na daw.
10:noon – buccal miso, 2 tabs
Last medicine ko na to kasi maximum of 4 miso daw.
1 pm – Low folate diet and fasting ends.
Sobrang nag halo halo yung emotions namin we are trying our best para
di masyado mag isip pero ang hirap seeing the fetus almost complete.
Nakakaguilt kasi kailangan namin tong gawin kasi hindi pa namin syang
kayang buhayin.

After all, the procedures went well. Masakit mahirap pero it’s all
safe. Don’t hesitate to ask for project 486’s help because they can
help you a lot.

To all the women who might be struggling about this just be sure that
you are sure for what you are doing, it needs physical and emotional
support.
